Did You Know
Did you know… that the Washington Navel orange is thought to originate in Brazil where it was discovered as a natural mutation in an orange tree grove at a monastery. It produced beautiful, seedless, sweet fruit so trees were propagated and sent to Washington DC in the Unites States, hence the Washington part of its name. The Navel part of its name comes from the end of the orange where the flower was as it is shaped like a human navel. A few of these trees thrived and they continued to be propagated and eventually became a sought after variety of orange famous across the world.
