Pepper is a fundamental spice in so many dishes adding that zing of heat and flavour. It is a climbing vine that will need protection from direct sunlight and prefers a subtropical or tropical growing environment. It makes a lovely hanging basket plant or trailing indoors pot plant.
When picked green, the berries can be dried and ground to produce black pepper. If the berries are allowed to ripen further until they turn red, the outer flesh can be discarded and the inner seed can be turned into White Pepper.
